It was my first adventure with local guide. Thanks to Thilanka not the last one. Only 24h ahead Thilanka prepared personalized trip schedule. His flexibility and attentiveness to my needs was amazing. My main goal was to experience local life, authentic Sri Lanka. Thilanka delivered it all. We have visited Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ella. He showed me local art, beautiful temples, local traditions and explained the story behind it. While we were exploring the cities we had a chance to talk to locals from different ethnic groups. In addition we’ve visited Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage where I was able to feed and cuddle the elephants. We’ve visited local tea factory where I was able to known the production process. My 3-day experience with Thilanka has been extremely magical and I would highly recommend Thilanka to anyone who would like to visit Sri Lanka. Particularly speaking, I feel very safe as a solo female traveler.

As a hyperactive person, I have planned my 3 days to the max.. from pickup at 1am to waking up at 5am, from rainforest to parks to whalewatching, Thilanka was always there for the best experiences. I am constantly amazed by how many great ideas he has, how much researches he did on culture and environment, how well of connections he has to get the best safari drivers/speed boat captains etc. and the many stories he has as a traveller too.

Although my trip has been nature focused, Thilanka found ways to squeeze in cultural sites on the way, especially a shrine with zero tourists.

Lastly, Thilanka is very observant of your needs. He is always there to recommend the best bathroom facilities or to suggest the time to rest between stops.

I took a tour of Tiranka for the first time as a friend recommended, and I had a really great trip.His tour goes beyond just sightseeing and has a deep understanding of the local nature (wild birds and plants), culture, architecture, and history, and makes me want to visit Sri Lanka again.

Tiranka politely reflects our interests on the tour and showed us the charm of Sri Lanka.There are many nice accommodations in Sri Lanka, but the accommodation that Tiranka introduced me was particularly nice.There was also a unique background as a former banker, and I was humbled by the inexperience as a guide, but the knowledge was abundant and enthusiastic about studying.

Then, he paid attention to how easy I was to get sick, and I was very good at driving, so I was able to travel comfortably.

As a photographer from India, my 3-day trip to Sinharaja Rainforest in Sri Lanka was unforgettable, though challenging. The steep hills and rugged trails require serious hiking, so prepare for a tough journey.

I spotted 86 bird species, including 26 endemics, and photographed my targets: “Blue Magpie” and “Chestnut-backed Owlet.” A highlight was capturing the rare “Sri Lanka Bay Owl” in its habitat—a remarkable moment for any photographer.

I’d like to give special thanks to my guide, Mr. Thilanka, whose bird and rainforest knowledge made a huge difference. He supported me in spotting species. He even carried my heavy camera gear during tough climbs, allowing me to focus on photography.

The people of Kudawa village were also incredibly friendly, always greeting me with warm smiles.

Sinharaja is a photographer’s paradise for those up for a challenge. With diverse wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and Mr. Thilanka’s expertise, it’s an unforgettable experience.

Thilanka organized a tailor-made tour to Bentota and Galle for me, and it was a great experience! He knows the country very well and has impressive narrative skills that bring every story to life. His extensive knowledge and thorough research ensured that I could learn even more about the places. He customized the entire program and was extremely communicative and entertaining. I was particularly impressed by our visit to Geoffrey Bawa’s garden – his architecture is truly fascinating! I can definitely recommend Thilanka!

The trip with Thilanka was one of my best experiences in Sri Lanka. We went on a day trip to Kandy and discussed all aspects of Sri Lankan society from food culture the impact of the foreign powers. In Kandy Thilanka shared i sights on the architecture the local traditions the food habits. We were able identify similarities in the food culture during the journey. He is very safe and considerate driver the entire journey was pleasant. He gave me recommendations in Colombo as well. He had enough water for the entire trip. an engaging trip understood multiple facets of the Sri Lankan culture. A definite experience to have . Look forward to more on my next visit.

I just finished a 4 day tour with Thilanka. They suggested a very robust itinerary based on our communication. Making sure I see everything I wanted to see and more. During our tour we covered Udawalawa NP, Ella, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Dambulla, Sigiriya, and Columbus. The Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya were one of the highlights in which the world-renowned author of Sri Lanka Palipana introduced me. All overnight stays were also recommended by Thilanka. During the tour we discussed several topics such as the ethnic and cultural diversity of Sri Lanka, the current way of life of people, their income levels, their beliefs, how society transformed to the current level after 3 European powers, the Indian, Chinese, Malaysian influence, the transformation of Sri Lankan cuisine and clothing, etc. He was very knowledgeable about all these topics. I highly recommend Thilanka

This was my 2nd tour with Thilanka, during which we visited Ahangama. We started the day early to avoid the morning traffic. Something that stands out to me about Thilanka’s tours is that he makes sure to engage all your senses – he bought me cut fruit and cashew nuts as he wanted me to *taste* local snacks, he stopped over by a cinnamon plantation and crushed leaves from a cinnamon tree for me to *smell*, he drove me through a typical Sri Lankan village so I could *see* village life for myself, he told me about different types of Sri Lankan furniture, encouraging me to *touch* & feel the wood and carvings, and of course as we *heard* birds and sounds of nature, Thilanka expertly identified the specifies and explained what the call might indicate. This made for a truly fulfilling experience and I felt “present”. I also did not feel well on this day and Thilanka went out of his way to make sure I felt better (which I definitely did due to his efforts). Thank you again Thilanka!
