Great Asian elephant gathering happens in Minneriya / Kaudulla National parks during the months of July, August, and September during the dry season. Since there were an influx of tourists in this season, we have decided to enter the park early and leave the park before many jeeps gather at certain places. We were lucky to observe nearly 200 elephants in total were heading to the lake in 5 locations of the route we took.
